It’s really nice to see this desktop come along. A third proper Linux desktop environment like Plasma and Gnome written in Rust. From system76.
Just loving this project. I think it will become real popular real quick when it ships with PopOS.
Oooo i havent even heard of this! Im only using gnome because i3 had issues or… Actually certain programs had issues playing nice with i3.
It’s not out yet but it’s coming, hopefully before end of year. But of course we don’t know. :)
I ran i3 for a while but now on Wayland I would recommend Sway instead, or Hyprland… So many choices.
They probaly release it at the same time with their Virgo laptop, which is going to be fully repairable and open source as much as possible (including bios). It’ll also contain a trackpoint and a hot-swappable mechanical keyboard.
Looking forward to this! My girlfriend and I share a living room PC running Pop. Gnome makes that possible, since she’s not necessarily a computer person but it’s a straightforward GUI. But I’m so annoyed by so many things about it – even with the Pop customizations.
Running Hyprland + bemenu on my personal laptop, but not about to do that on our shared desktop. Hoping Cosmos fills this gap.
This is the entire reason i cant switch yet:
Ill give it a go though to see what the future is like!
I don’t know, I guess, but Im playing doom eternal in 4k and raytracing enabled and it’s smooth as butter. But I am using AMD graphics.
