yet another Elevator7009 alt, now to mod !automationgames@lemmy.zip
Heya! Glad to see this Lemmy community is making its way over to Mastodon.
Your comments made me curious what our threshold for “too new” is, my first guess being 5 years. (Thanks XKCD.)
It’s actually
catering to gamers who wait at least 12 months after release to play a game
according to our sidebar. But you pose a good question if Early Access release counts as release, especially if it’s been in EA for this long.
Nope, but now I have to look into Merry Gear Solid haha
Eh, to each their own, to me it wasn’t funny at all. Not in a this is offensive way, I can appreciate dark humor, but the impression I personally came away with was “annoying snarky comment” and less “incisive, witty, funny and topical joke”. Of course, my impression is probably extremely colored by my feeling it was just barely on-topic and a conversation hijack away from American Truck Simulator to American Politics, but I also have seen American politics comments that I found funny and this wasn’t one of them. Glad you enjoyed at least, as well as the other people who upvoted, nice to see people getting value out of it where I couldn’t.
Hello!
I think !strategygames@sopuli.xyz, !strategy@lemmy.world, !turnbasedstrategy@lemmy.world, and !turn_based_tactics@lemmy.zip might like this post too. Might want to crosspost there.
Interesting to read as someone with pipe dreams of being a hobbyist dev someday.

Ooo, fellow Linux gamer. Did you check ProtonDB to see if they have a fix for your issue? I’m hyped for Timberborn but also have a personal rule to never buy Early Access. Also, we would like this post over in !citybuilders@sh.itjust.works.
Watch Lemmy turn one of the few apolitical posts about something American into something political in 3… 2… 1…
Politics is important but sometimes I just want to play a video game without someone turning the conversation to politics when that wasn’t the topic at hand at all. I’m super angry about all the things my country is doing now too, but I also sometimes want to enjoy what I have left instead of being constantly stressed about it and bringing up the horrors happening at every opportunity—especially with just a comment about if a truck driving sim that seems to be mostly just about driving will suddenly implement something political and unpleasant (when we know they probably will not, that’s not the vibe they are going for) and no links to taking action. (Here are a few, albeit aimed at Americans.
On the other hand, people have to vent sometimes and I guess I need to build up tolerance and a thicker skin to that, even when it shows up in a place marked Games and not US Politics.
Cute profile picture!
I’m very happy the series did not have a dark ending. Fanfic writers can do what they want, have fun with the established universe, and make dark fics, but it’s one thing to have it as a fanfic and a headcanon if you want; and another to have it be flat-out canon in a previously happy series. Some people would find that huge subversion of expectations cool, I often find subversion of expectations cool, but I like the lighthearted Pokémon theme and am glad it stayed that way.
Will always cheer for more native Linux support.
Please.
I agree about consolidation. Also was nosing around for fighting game communities and saw a lot that should probably consolidate too. “Fighting Game” will give you more results than “Fighting Games,” seems obvious but I actually wrote that genre off as being totally dead on Lemmy before I input “Fighting Game” and found two that are limping along but not dead.
Please change !otomegames@ani.socialo to !otomegames@ani.social
Thanks, I guess? I was going to wait to gather more active communities before releasing a list.
While I have peoples’ attention, strategy games have a ton of communities, one which has been poked recently into living (!strategy@lemmy.world) and many which are dead.
Was pretty neutral about Crobat until I decided to relieve frustration about Zubat encounters by catching one myself. Raised it and befriended it, got a Crobat, and found it very useful.
Also, it’s really funny how even when these guys are delighted, they still have that huge frown on their face.
For curious onlookers like myself out of the loop, this is Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup. Best wishes OP
I admit I found this because some people on Lemmy were talking about a “Blue Prince” video game, I’d heard about it before and figured I should see what the fuss was about, and in the Steam results for “Blue Prin” were Blue Prince, Blue Print, and Blueprint Tycoon. But it looks like a cool little gem.
Ooh, how are they different?
As someone who has never played Mini Metro but heard good things about it, graphics give me Mini Metro vibes but with electric grids instead of public people transportation. A bit less minimalist.
Magic? Check. School sim? Check. Management game? Check. Probably villain protagonist? Check. Unusual perspective (not so often you play as a professor/teacher)? Check. Definitely have to check this out, it’s pushing like all my buttons.
Also a lot of the reviews call it cozy for some reason. That is yet another button of mine to push, especially if it still has good gameplay.
