If they annexed it it would instantly become the most bike and pedestrian friendly city in the US.

Edit: and for an additional dunk, Den Haag is probably like what? The fifth most bike/ped-friendly city in the Netherlands?

  • if US political elites actually decided they “had” to deploy armed troops to the city functioning as the seat of government for the netherlands–a country that has demonstrated its total commitment to the capitalist western hegemony–to dissolve a court ruling by a high court of the UN (itself an institution developed by european leaders to legitimize themselves and their outsize role in the political economy of earth) it would mean The West has reached the end stage of its mortality spiral and officially imploded. without european vassal states, the client states of the US would disintegrate and the US itself would balkanize.

i mean, ask yourself, what would happen in your town if the heavily armed mayor ordered the heavily armed sheriff to arrest the heavily armed judge in the middle of a session for ordering the arrest of the mayor. now elevate that to an industrial war making scale.

i just don’t think it would happen. i think a US president would theaten to do it and european elites would roll over to preserve the hegemony at the expense of the illusion.

I think at that point, it will have been decided that all these international institutions that America would historically use to obfuscate the imperialism are no longer necessary and it is time to dispense with the pretenses

I’d worry about “if the ICC were to actually detain Netanyahu” first since that seems more unlikely than the US going hot in response

The US actually having to invade the Hague suggests that the international community would have turned on the US. I imagine it kicks off a giant clusterfuck of a regional war that eventually goes nuclear.

I don’t know how they could feasibly do that. Rolling tanks in to Belgium from Germany maybe?

The depravity of Europe always leaves room to surprise me but I think the EU would shut that down, and there’d be millions of people along any route the US military tried to take.

The Hague courts would cease to exist. And that would basically be it, all of the pro-US states are too much anti-China to actually switch, they will just say “I guess it was for the best” and be happy that they can continue to work with Israel as usual.

They wouldn’t do it for Bibi, because the Hague Invasion Act only specifies US military and government personnel. They’d throw him under the bus as the one bad apple who did the war crimes.

If this isn’t about the recent Netanyahu news and just in general, obviously invading a NATO member wouldn’t result in anything good (for the US at least).
