I’m going to find a professional out there in my area who can listen to all my concerns about stuff like diagnosing/dealing with AuDHD, talking about dealing with family stuff, and just my general desire to be a better person/communicate better. I don’t think I can just indefinitely keep my problems inside the way I’ve been doing.

Don’t be too humble. Many of them need more help than that patient. So many going to therapy themselves and think “hey I can do that too”.

Idk about anybody else but CBT amounts to some sneering fuck saying “just stop thinking that” for a couple of days wages.

I would recommend a therapist! Although keep in mind that the first therapist you meet might not be the best fit for you (I went through several until I found someone I had productive sessions with). It takes time and energy but the long term benefits are definitely worth it

my version of this was that my therapist was actually p. decent but i had to take a break because i stopped doing the work and then after like a year of not benefiting from therapy at all i better understood what i needed immediate help with and then was more motivated to do the work the second time

Psychology Today is another good jumping off point if you use their filters to get rid of people doing “Christian therapy” and whatever. Sometimes info is vague but its enough to be able to then look at individual websites for more detail. And I always see handfuls of people who specialize in working with LGBTQ people and other specific backgrounds or diagnoses.
